On Friday I went to Brimfield, Ma for the famous Brimfield Flea Market that happens 3 times a year. I decided to tackle the heat and hit the road to search for some fabulous vintage finds for work and home.  I found over 10 AH-mazing vintage pieces for fabric and trim inspiration for Lilly and 4 pieces of furniture for our home that I am SO in love with. I love finding special inexpensive pieces and making them my own. Today’s project was refinishing and painting a 6 legged bamboo chair with caning for my home office.

:: below is where I first fell in love :: only $30 ::

:: slowly becoming what it was meant to be ::

:: and then the after ::

So that was project number one. Still looking for the perfect pillow for the chair but this is definitely an improvement. I cant get enough of bamboo furniture and/or furniture with caning :: hence my collection of caned chairs I painted mint :: you will see what project is next from my fave finds from Brimfield SOON!

Obsessing over the colors. Lots of  golds/ nude, shimmmmmmer, sparkle, and embellishment. But my fave is Michelle Williams in what I’m calling tangerine … similar to pantones color of 2012. But I have also heard the dress referred to as red and/or coral?  Cant tell on screen. What do you think of this color?  And ps i think Giuliana also looks fab in my fave metallic color GILVER. (goldsilver)

Love tonight.

So. In prepping for a meeting for Spring 2013 this week, I have been scouring the internet for inspiring photos that are either fabulous for color- fabric- trim- trends you name it. I’m out there looking for it. and once again glitter guide kept my attention and I LOVE their pics of nailpolish colors and trends. I am a sucker for fun polish. and am going to HAVE to try adding a little glitter too. with mint polish of course.

ok. fabric is def the story of my life. work- all fabric all the time. home- LATELY fabric obsessed. I am determined to find the perrrfect fabric for our window treatments in the kitchen to match back to our CORAL stools. I can SO picture my end result. I just need to find a fabric and color I am honestly in love with. WELL. this week we received our fabric swatches from Caitlin Wilson Design and im kinda in love.

option #1 Coral Tall Chevron from Caitlin Wilson Textiles. Yes she sells fabric by the yard.

option #2 Mint Fleur Chinoiserie from Caitlin Wilson Textiles.

SO. CWD has THE best color sense in fabric. All of her colors are current, chic and modern. Not to mention her coral color is a PERFECT match to my coral stools and I am beyond obsessed with mint right now and have been for a couple years now. SO option #2 im kinda in love with.

option #3 from Premier Prints Inc.

option #4 from Premier Prints Inc.

So my premier prints options are AMAZING. the weight of the fabric is fantastic for window treatments, pillows, upholstery and its a fab $9.99/yd butttt the color is not perfect… but I LOVE the patterns.

And then we have the CWD options that are GORG. I mean the color could not match ANY BETTER. and option #2 really works with the kitchen. it has a fine black outline along the branch of the flower that matches the granite and island and then I love the mint color. If I am ever allowed the paint the walls WHITE I will be even happier with this print. buttttt it is $50/yd. WOAH major difference.  I mean I source, design, develop and scour the world for fabric as my JOB so to pay $50/yd is hurting my soul. BUT I JUST LOVE THE PRINT.
oh and did i mention it has a little bit of shimmer on it. j’aaaaaadore.

see below pics of all the options and then my numbah one love ON the stool. pretty fab match huh? I KNOW.

what do you think? lemme know

I can’t believe it. The hubs and I hosted our first holiday party in New England. I mean… if you give me a reason to plan or host any party or get together- I WILL! So… to kick off the holiday season we wanted to invite all of our fave people over for a cocktail and a hug! AND we themed it. well not WE but it was themed ok… everyone had to wear black or white. WHY? because pics look better coordinated.

as for decorations. I personally do not love red in our coastal home. maybe someday but currently if I am going to go with a pop of color for Christmas I like a bright pink. but instead I focused on winter white with LOTS of lights and this years obsession. SNOW FLAKES. they are covering the tree and our windows…. and what fun to do with your family? make homemade snowflakes!! my poor husband.

snowflakes all over the windows. homemade and full of memories. next year watch out. I’m asking everyone to make one 😉

snowflakes, bows & berries.

snowflakes on mirrors…

my white decorations draped in gilver beads… yes gilver is the perfect combo between gold & silver.

our front porch that we turn into a 4 seasons room for parties. its our fave! accent color= MINT GREEN

no. we did not own a bird. i needed a place for all of my sea treasures- drift wood… buoys. ya know.

i love that you can see our gnome- Tommy Dixon

little details…

two of my fave things: coral (perfect to hold napkins for guests) & a worn table.

MINT green caned chairs. my loves.

more MINT green caned chairs. yes please!!!

a MINT green gurgling cod. why use him as a pitcher when you can use him to decorate for the holidays. who said Christmas was all about red and green…

pictures like this are why themes are FUN! great pictures.

im a sucker for a photo-op. he knew what he was getting into before he married me. promise!

We are hosting Christmas Eve this year as well and we have 25+ people coming on over. SO EXCITED!!!

* *just REMEMBER: when it comes to the holidays….decorating your home, dressing up, cooking for multiple and being that fab hostess (or host)……. stay true to YOU and have fun with it. (and you can have a blast on a budget!!) The holidays are about being together with friends and family and celebrating everything and everyone you have in your life.

I love navy accessories and its very hard to find them. I already bought my navy knotty wedges from Lilly. TDF!!!!! (they are sold out but you can still find them online thru the Lilly Pulitzer signature stores such as Splash of Pink) Cute arent they?

Well today I went to Circa Vintage Wear in New Bedford to look around for some great vintage fabrics (which OH YES! I did find). They have the best accessories and vintage finds! Check them out on facebook or go on in and say hi to Chris!!! Amongst the MANY purses I was flirting with purchasing this one caught my eye and I fell in love immediately. SOLD!! Made of raffia in a cobalt/ navy color. Perfect size & condition with great compartments for all things girly to be stored. And the coolest part… The original receipt was inside from  July 3rd 1978 and it sold for $13.64 and I purchased it for $20 33 years later almost to the day.  It will look great with my Lilly this summer!!

have you SEEN the new pottery barn spread? “the wonders of the sea”… its my dream. come. true. I have been designing our home around my own little new england chic faves and TAH. DAH. anything I could ever want that I dont already have is there… love it!!! and I have been waiting for this sand dollar to come back. take a look!!!! oversized and fabulous. perfect for any new england or beach chic home.

so I am currently in the midst of a DIY  mission : master bedroom re-do & re-paint. and I am SO EXCITED! It has slowly been in the works since we got married back in 2009 but it has become a mission to finish before summer. light & airy surrounded by all of our fave pics and memories… (oh and did I mention its all me. the hubs is working on other DIY projects so the master is in my hands! dun dun dunnnnn) Something I have always loved is white on white. ie: white decorations against white walls or on white furniture. Currently our master bedroom has all black furniture that has been collected over the years. So I am slowly sanding, priming and RE-painting all of it WHITE. Pictures will come once it is finished. WISH ME LUCK!

But… I wanted to share something I love. and that is ginger jars. all sorts. whether they are glass, pottery, patterned, painted or solid. I love them all. And if they are white I will love them even more. I use them for decoration in every room. Some store memories, sea life, sea glass, even dog biscuits and others are just for decoration as is. I have this tall “gingah jah” ((508)) in the master bedroom and I stuck a reed diffuser inside of it so you can still smell it but cant see it. Which I love. Reed diffusers aren’t HORRIBLE to look at but I prefer they are hidden. take a look!

and these are all of my treasures I love to display in the glass version.
and what’s great is that these jars were used in our wedding to hold local candy and now they are being used in our home. *recycle

it has taken me years to find myself in my decorating but over the past few years it has clicked. I went from loving shabby chic to romantic tuscan, to somewhere in between and for the past couple of years beach chic has evolved into exactly “us”. clean lines, lots of white, comfortable living, eclectic mixtures that are new england inspired. and each room is different but it fits, it works. and we love it.

* be inspired and stay true to YOU!
